Just The Two of Us - Larxene & Axel.
« Thread Started on Dec 21, 2006, 9:37pm »

A black gloved hand pulled open the silver door that lead to the inside of the café and a figure with vibrant red spiky hair strolled into the cozy little place. Emerald green eyes scanned the familiar place and the male took a seat on one of the couches in the lounge area. He reached into his pocket and was relieved to know that the small black box was still there. Axel, since there was no way it was anyone else, let out a short sigh and smiled slightly to himself. Inside the said box was an extravagant ring that wasn’t exactly cheap. It was a good thing the pyro had a large amount of munny or else he wouldn’t have been able to get that as a present for Larxene. The ring itself was beautiful, different colored sapphires set in pure platinum. He wondered if she would like it or not and he really hoped she would. It was going to be just the two of them here at Memoria Café since after he bought her present he ditched Marly and asked her if she wanted to come to get away from all of the commotion. Surprisingly she had agreed and thus here he was sitting there on the couch pondering whether to get something to eat or not. He figured it would be a good idea to maybe get a sandwich and a drink; this would be the perfect opportunity to have a normal conversation with her. Axel couldn’t remember when they had actually talked like civilized people, had they even done that at all? He couldn’t help but doubt that they had seeing as she would always get mad at him since he annoyed her to death. Hadn’t she ever heard that saying though? The one that went something like ‘Boys only pick on girls if they like them.’ The pyromaniac chuckled to himself since that was what elementary school kids did, people his age weren’t supposed to act that way. They were supposed to be the kind of guy who was mature, but still had a sense of humor. He realized that girls probably hated being bothered; they were the moodiest people weren’t they? It was true, but he didn’t dare say that out loud considering he would be slapped by every female in the world.

His stomach grumbled and he raised an eyebrow. How long had he gone without eating? It had to be at least two or three days, he had a habit of ‘forgetting’ to eat. That perhaps explains why he was so skinny, maybe if he ate like a normal person he wouldn’t be that way. He stood up and walked over to the line that consisted of about five people in front of him. Axel turned to look at Larxene and smiled, “I’m hungry, what about you?” he asked in a pleasant tone showing that he was trying to be normal. “You can pick whatever you want to eat since I’m buying.” A few other girls in the café whispered among themselves as they looked at Axel and listened to what he had said to the blonde. ‘She’s so lucky,’ one of them whispered while making a face, ‘He’s so nice and wow look at his hair, it’s amazing.’ ‘Wow it is amazing; his face is pretty much perfect, too. It’s so unfair, all of the hot guys are taken.’ said the other one, ‘I wish I could find someone like that. All of the guys I know are idiots...’ Finally the last in the group spoke, ‘Hey isn’t that Axel? Y’know, that senior from our school?’ she said, ‘It is! I heard that his element is fire. Heh, I guess he is literally hot then.’ All three of them smirked and continued to look at him like a bunch of fangirls. He didn’t notice their stares and continued to grin at Larxene. “I really like this place,” he told her while scratching the back of his head, “The atmosphere is really comfortable and the food tastes great don’t you think?” A nervous laugh escaped him, but he couldn’t really help. She just had some weird effect on him that no other girl did. Axel hoped that one day he’d have the same effect on her.

Swiftly, the blonde had come through the door of the café after Axel, her gaze avidly moving about the small restaurant. About her, there were movements of other people, and although the place was comely and relaxing in appearance, it was also crowded with others – not only Destiny Islands’ residents, but also some students from Thalassa High as well. The last bit had been soon realized by Larxene, as she gazed at the group of girls ahead of them. The small clique was murmuring things – and it wasn’t like their words weren’t within earshot, either. Of course, amongst them, the topic of discussion was no one but Axel; it always was. However, dragging her attention away from the ‘fangirls’, her hard glare now was set upon the one that had brought her here, again, Axel. He had said something to the senior, mentioning that he was hungry. Well, that’s what they were at a CAFÉ for, after all, right? “—Hm? Hungry? Yeah, I guess.” It was like she had suddenly become dull, for she turned on her heel, and took a seat next to the pyro, thinking of what she also wished to have. Yet, her quiet thinking was interrupted by the said fangirls, who still jittered and made comments to themselves. Yeah. They wished.

Erupting from the once odd placidness of her, a wry grin overcame her face, causing her eyebrows to crease with savage thoughts. It was easiest to deal with people such as the ones before her by “becoming one herself”, and such a deed would include for the others: several disappointments (one large, but silent putdown would be needed, just to knock each of them off and away like dominos), the feelings of unhappiness, woe and ugliness, and hopefully, as an outcome, the Lightning Bug would look back to see the shells of preppy female stereotypes, torn apart by knowing that they’ll have to settle for less than what they’ve always dreamed of. Though it wasn’t the first thing to do on the list, the ‘buggy’ decided to immediately take a crack at her plans. Step one. Gazing at the menu Axel had in his hand, although it was in clear view, she squinted, and inched closer to the other, still keeping a squinted face. “Can you turn the menu a little more this way?” She inched ever closer, still looking over at the menu, hoping he’d still be oblivious to the whole thing.

However, even though this was only a small step in her little plot, she still decided that there was enough time to really look the menu over. As she peered at the small font, her mind swarmed with the thought of the several different types of deli sandwiches and soups. There were some things she had never heard of before, and others that were simpler, like . . . coffee. She decided for herself that she wasn’t prepared to “go the distance” and experiment with odd foods, so she simply chose out a single delicacy that she personally preferred off of the menu. Nothing more than a mocha latte. Out of the blue, though, she soon spoke once more, glaring at the text on the menu still, as if she were glued to it. “Am I pretty?” Oh sweet god, she sounded like a complete idiot to herself. Snorting inwardly, she kept her ears open for a response, even though she felt as if she should wash her mouth out with soap for speaking such words within earshot of a whole congregation of morons.

Axel had been looking over the menu that was in his hand so he didn’t hear what the girls were saying. Even if he did hear them he probably wouldn’t care since the only girl he wanted to like him was Larxene. Sure, it was nice to have fangirls and everything, but it would be one-sided love. He smiled when she responded to his question and nodded. “Yeah, I haven’t eaten in a few days. Bad habit I guess,” he replied and looked over the many foods that there were to choose from. On the menu they had a lot of subs and sandwiches, salads too. They had other things like pasta and chicken nuggets. He seemed to be in a fix at what do get since everything appealed to him. The mini burgers sounded really good but he knew there was no way he’d be able to eat all four of them. “Hey, do you want to share the mini burgers with me? I could eat two and you could eat the other two,” he suggested. He was being normal for once and didn’t intend for that to sound perverted or anything. In fact it wasn’t all that perverted anyways, people shared food all of the time. What he said had sparked even more conversation from the girls ahead of them. “Oh my gosh! Did you hear that? She is so lucky,” one of them said and they all nodded. “I want to share food with him…” another once announced. “Hmm, I’d rather share something else with him if you know what I mean.” They all started to giggle again until they noticed Larxene moving closer to him. They all glared her and crossed their arms, “Hmph, what gives her the right to get all close to him?” the ‘Leader’ of their little group said. “Yeah seriously, what a whore,” said the ‘Second in Command.’ Finally the third one spoke, “Ugh, slutface much?” All of them smirked and continued to give her dirty looks.

The pyro had noticed that she moved closer and nodded when she asked if he could move the menu. “Yeah, of course,” he answered with a grin and complied with her request. This caused the fangirls to sneer and scowl. “Ew, why does he listen to her?” one of them said. “I don’t know, but she probably thinks she controls him or something.” The second one mumbled. “It’s not like he’s her slave, if anything she should be doing stuff for him,” said that third person. Their glares were even more furious now and they probably hated her even though they didn’t know her. “Hey guys, isn’t her name like… Larry or something?” one of them asked. “Oh yeah, I thought in was Lacey…” “Are you sure? I could have sworn it was Leah.” They all quietly debated what her possible name was and oh how wrong they were. Axel still didn’t hear them, but if he did he would have probably set them all aflame. He’d automatically hate them for talking bad about the one that he practically loved. The pyromaniac still stood there though, looking over the menu for something to drink as well as waiting for Larxene’s response to his question.

When she had asked him if she was pretty the group of girls bust out laughing. Their faces turned all red and they had tears in their eyes from laughing so hard. “That was priceless!” one of them exclaimed as they continued to snicker and giggle. “What an absurd question, she could just look in a mirror and realize that she’s not.” The second one said. “Yeah really, I mean look at her hair! She looks like a bug or something. What a freak!” They laughed even more and Axel had heard them though he didn’t know why they were laughing. He rolled his emerald eyes and looked back to Larxene. “No, you’re not pretty…” he stated and they all smirked. “You’re just the most gorgeous girl I’ve ever met.” The group of girls gasped and pouted. “What the heck? We’re like so much prettier than her…” one of them muttered. “Yeah, at least we don’t have weird hair…” the second one said. “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe he like told her that!” All three of them mumbled and scowled unhappily not wanting to believe their ears.
